Colored spectrum bulbs are an inexpensive and safe replacement for spectrum tubes. By viewing these bulbs through a spectroscope, you can observe spectral lines spanning the visible light spectrum. In terms of safety, these bulbs do not produce much heat, so there is less risk of getting burned. By producing very little heat, there is no reason to intermittently turn off the bulb, unlike a spectrum tube. But, still wait for the bulb to cool down after use, before touching it.
These bulbs can be screwed into any regular screw-in bulb socket. Sockets are not included with bulb; contact your local hardware store. These bulbs are RoHS compliant and an Earth-friendly alternative to standard CFLs. They contain reduced amounts of mercury, lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and polybrominated biphenyls compared with standard CFLs.
